If the value of a is 3, and the value of b is -2/3, how far apart will a and a + b be on a number line?

Value of a = 3

Value of a + b = 3 + (-2/3)
Value of a + b =  2 1/3

Difference = 3 - 2 1/3
Difference = 2/3
