There are both high-level challenges (e.g., the absence of institutional commitment and the lack of capital) and low-level challenges (e.g., engineering, functionality, and technical issues) that healthcare managers face regarding EMR. However, the most significant challenge is that many hospitals are losing money because they cannot afford all of the technology required to implement an electronic medical records system.
