Plessy v. Ferguson was about a black man, Plessy, wanting to sit a white train car. He was arrested and brought to court as he broke the law of Louisiana statute that states the segregation was "separate but equal". Since he was not using the facility he was designated to, which was the blacks train car, they had the right to arrest him and hold him in court. The court ruled in Ferguson's favor saying "separate, but equal" was Constitutional.
