Roosevelt extended Hoover's good neighbor policy in Latin America according to which both countries would maintain cordial ties and be good neighbors. This was framed to boost economic ties and create employment opportunities in both countries. The policy was later abandoned due to conflicting interests towards the end of the Second World War and during the Cold War.
