2a+4b=d
we subtract 2a from both sides
2a-2a+4b=d-2a
simplify
4b=d-2a
divide by 4
[tex] \frac{4b}{4} = \frac{d - 2a}{4} [/tex]
simplify
[tex]b = \frac{d - 2a}{4}[/tex]
