The plants do photosynthesis, which is the process of converting energy of the sun into something useful for the plant.

In photosynthesis, the plant takes carbon dioxide and water, and by using the sun's energy, it is able to make oxygen and glucose. The plant uses the glucose for growth, and the oxygen is released into the atmosphere.
