Why does the study of chemistry depend so much on problem solving?

The study of chemistry relies very much on problem solving because it involves the reaction between elements and compounds to form new compounds and this reaction can be complicated and it depends on such variables as the pH  of the solution, the relative mass of the reactants etc.
