Chances of brain death are likely if the heart stopped for: More than 10 minutes.

In order to keep the cells in our brain alive, the brain needs constant circulation of Oxygen.
When the heart stopped, there will be no oxygen circulated in our body which caused the cells in our brain started to deteriorate.
