If you want to put this in slope intercept form, you need to get y alone. To do this, you first need to subtract x from both sides. Then, divide both sides by 3. Your work should look like this:

x + 3y = 6        ( - x both sides)

3y = -x + 6       (Divide both sides by 3)

y = - 1/3 x + 2

***** This is your new equation. This is easier to graph because it gives the slope and the y intercept. *******************************************************
