Let, the left portion = x

Then, 8 = 2 3/4 + 3 1/2 + x

8 = 11/4 + 7/2 + x

8 = 11+14+4x / 4

32 = 25 + 4x

4x = 32-25

x = 7/4

In short, Your Answer would be: 7/4 feet or 1.75 feet

Hope this helps!
