5(-2) + y = 10
-10 + y = 10
plus 10 on both side to get rid of 10 in left side
10 - 10 + y = 10 + 10
y = 20

Answer:

y=20

Step-by-step explanation:

5x+y=10 can't be solved without one of the values but with given the value of x, we can substitute the equation...

-----> 5(-2)+y=10

5 times -2 is -10

-----> -10+y=10

Now we add 10 to each side that leaves y on its own and adds 10 with another 10 making 20 on the other side.

------> y=20

I hope this helps! :)
