In logarithms multiplication becomes addition when you want to expand:
[tex]ln3+ln x^{4} +ln y^{7} [/tex]
To convert a base of something else to base 10 you divide the two with each at base 10;
[tex] \frac{ log_{10}5x }{ log _{10}4 }
[/tex]
