We need to convert the units:

• milliliter to liter;

,

• second to hour.

Since each milliliter (mL) is the thousandth part of one liter (L), we have:

mL = 0.001 L

Also, since each hour (h) has 60 minutes (min), and each minute has 60 seconds (s), we have:

1 h = 60 min = 60 * 60 s = 3600 s

s = (h/3600)

Now, we can rewrite the rate of the leak as follows:

[tex]\frac{0.5mL}{s}=\frac{0.5\cdot0.001L}{\frac{1}{3600}h}=\frac{0.0005L}{h}\cdot3600=\frac{1.8L}{h}[/tex]
