Answer:

She has 11 dimes and 17 nickels

Step-by-step explanation:

dimes --- d

nickels -- n

Equation with number of coins: [tex] n+d = 28 n = 28-d[/tex]

[tex]10d + 5n = 195 [/tex]

Divide by 5

[tex]2d + n = 39[/tex]

sub in the other equation:

[tex]2d + 28-d = 39 d = 11 n = 28-11 = 17 [/tex]
She has 11 dimes and 17 nickels

check:

total = 11 + 17 = 28 , check!

value: 10(11) = 5(17) = 195 , check!
