Answer:

y = 2 x + 6     given line

y = m x + b     standard equation for straight line

y = 2 x + b     for slope of unknown line to be the same

-1 = 2 (1) + b      substitute given vaues

b = -3

y = 2 x - 3      equation of line to be found

slope = 2

if x = 1 and y = -1

-1 = 2 - 3    or   2 = 2
