Ammonium is converted to nitrite ions (NO2 -) by soil bacteria like Nitrosomonas. Bacteria then convert nitrites into nitrate ions (NO3 -)
It directly converts to NO2 and then that NO2 converts to NO3. This no3 then converts to N2 (gas). So second and fourth option i think
