So the  goal here is to find the value of "w". The first thing you must do is transpose the number 9 to the side of -7 and it would look like this, 4w = -7 - 9. Change the positive sign of the number 9 to negative when you transpose. Then, the equation will be simplified and it will look like this, 4w = -16. Then lastly, to get the value of "w", you must divide the equation to 4 and it will be like this, 
4w = -16    so you will get the answer w = -4. I hope this helps you
