Solve for d by simplifying both sides of the equation then isolating the variable. 
d = -70.

So another way of saying this is what is d if 4 - d/14 = 9

d / 14 HAS TO EQUAL -5         
because  4 -(-5) = 9

so to make d / 14 = -5

14 * -5 = -70

So the answer is -70
