In a garden, 2/3 of the flowers are roses. Of the roses in the garden, 5/12 are yellow and the rest are red. What fraction of the flowers are red roses?

7/18 of the flowers are red roses

because 5/12 are yellow, the rest would be red. so 7/12. but total roses are only 2/3 of the whole garden.

tip: when you see "of" in a fraction problem, it means you can multiply them.

so, 7/12 OF 2/3 is just (7/12) * (2/3).
multiplying straight across and simplifying will get you to 7/18!
