A plateau is a table land made up of a flat top and escarpments on both sides.
They extend for several kilometers and are some of the defining landscapes on earth.
They form in areas of tectonic plate movement in which volcanic activities have defined the landscape. Crustal shortening and thickening are also responsible for the formation of plateau.
