pretty sure this is a states theme according to these
stated theme. the author states his main idea to the reader.
implied theme. the reader must infer the message usually studying the main character and the lesson he\she learns.
since the author made a character tell the reader that theme, and you didnt have to figure it out, it should be a stated theme
