Do two distinct lines always intersect at a point.

The answer to the question above is "not always". Only two lines with solution intersect. There are other two types of systems of linear equation. One of which are those which do not intersect because of they are parallel. Lastly, there are also systems of lines that intersect indefinitely because basically the equations represent the same line.
