The president explained his judgment by saying that "disruptive crowds purposely stopped a federal court from carrying out proper orders."

Because local authorities were unable to resolve disputes, the federal government took part. It was also humiliating on the image of the United States.

Eisenhower emphasized that even if you agree with the Supreme Court's ruling it doesn't matter, as they make laws a reality. When individuals were to disobey, the US would become anarchical.
