Let
x = first consecutive number
x + 1 = second consecutive number

Based on the problem, we equate
x + (x + 1) = 107
Solving for x,
2x + 1 = 107
2x = 107 - 1
2x = 106
x = 106/2 = 53
and x + 1 = 54

Therefore, the numbers are 53 and 54.
