The hot issue in 1832 was the National Bank.

Henry Clay & Daniel Webster followed Martin Van Buren in supporting a National Bank. Andrew Jackson opposed the rechartering of the National Bank.

Jackson would ultimately be elected and would VERY strongly veto the rechartering of the National Bank.
