Indirect Rule is a system of government by one nation to another in which the governed people retain certain administrative, legal, and other powers.
Indirect rule is the system used by colonial powers to exercise control through pre-existing powers, leaving the routine aspects of government to the existing rulers. This system is also known as "protectorate".
