With these values x = 14.

In order to find this, we must note that LM will be half of KM (since L is the midpoint). Because we know this, we also know that we can multiply LM by 2 and set equal to KM.

2LM = KM

2(2x + 4) = 5x - 6

4x + 8 = 5x - 6

8 = x - 6

14 = x
