multiply the first equation by 4 and the second by -3, we get

12x - 20y = 52

-12x - 24y = 27

Add these 2 equations to eliminate x:-

-44y = 79

y = 79 / -44 = -1.795

Substitute for y in the original equation:-

3x - 5(-1.795) = 13

3x = 4.025

x = 1.342

Solution is (-1.80, 1.34) to nearest hundredth
