2x + y = 1
4x + 2y = -2

Solve for y in the first equation. Subtract 2x from both sides.
y = 1 - 2x

Now plug in y into the second equation.
4x + 2(1 - 2x) = -2
Distribute 2 to (1 - 2x).
4x + 2 - 4x = -2
Combine like terms.
2 = -2

2 does not = -2 so the answer to this problem is no solution.
