the epidermals make up the outermost layer of the skin and is constantly forming new cells through mitosis. these new cells gradualy move towards the skins outer surface , while producing and filling themselves with keratin . this causes these cells to die by the time they reach the outer surface where they are shed and replaced with new cells . it is a continuous process

glad i could help :)
